2024 Round Up

I was reading the 2023 Round Up post, and funnily enough there’s one small mention of knitting projects in my 2024 plans. Instead it turned out, I got obsessed again and managed to finish 3 sweater, 1 top, 1 pair of gloves and a little star.

It’s been a busy year overall not only in the crafty department. I’ve finished the Certificate in Drawing and Visual investigation in April, and then in September started a master in Human Centered AI.

What a twist…

But while I really loved being able to get a bit of formal education in art, I realised computers and data are something I’m more interested in to make a living off. But I’ve been trying to keep drawing too as I enjoy it, but it’s hard to dedicate time to it with a full time job and part time study.

Now back to craft, but before bunch of pictures in no particular order.

Overall, I’ve been quite productive in all crafty departments, but the winner was definitely knitting. I’ve got knitfluenced and that push me into an online rabbit hole, dusted off my Raverly, and bought too much yarn for too many projects. All my FOs below in no particular order.

In progress:

Crochet got some attention too, but while I enjoy it and I find the speed of it satisfying, I still prefer knitting, so there weren’t many big projects.

Frogged:

  • Meowtastic Mosaic Blanket: I accidentally changed hook after a few rows, and I wasn’t enjoying the yarn so I decided to frog it and I’ll try with cotton at some point.

My 2020 obsession with cross stitch was replaced by knitting, so not much done aside for closing down my Etsy shop. I assume that count as a finished project?

In the last fiber arts category, sewing. Not much going on, sewing needs a lot of my brain power, and I didn’t have much to spare this year. I also decided to finally bust my stash and use the pattern making course I did a few years ago, and the combo presented a lot of challenges.

  • Skirt: this is finished, but somehow it came out too big, so I need to fix it 😓
  • Curtains.

I’ll eventually write posts on both, but for now check out some pictures in the gallery above.

Parked project:

  • Open back summer dress: it got too cold and decided to park it until this spring.

In non fiber arts, I painted a mural in the guest bedroom: the mountains are for where I am from, and I have to say I’m pretty impressed at how it looks.

For 2025, I have already a few WIPs, but also some new ideas, however, I will be back with a separate post as I would like to use it as a chance to plan a bit better so that I don’t end up running after too many new ideas.

So, for now, Happy New Year and see you soon-ish!
