This was one of the first projects I started this year, and my most recent finish. As usual I got distracted, but also as the “warmer” season came, I lost a bit of motivation, but I managed to finish it in time for the “colder” season.
All in quotes because weather has been… odd. Let’s leave it at that.
Surprisingly, this is now my favorite sweater. I would wear it 24/7 if I could.
Let’s dig into why it’s surprising.

How I made it
First of all, I overestimated my skills. I got 2 cakes of Winter Glow from Hobbii with no project on mind, and went to look for a suitable pattern. I’ve been watching Kutovakika’s YouTube channel, and I really liked her patterns, so I decided to get the Salty Days Sweater pattern. However, the yarn I wanted to use didn’t match the suggested fiber content in the pattern, but I thought I’d just need to do some maths and it would all work out.
So, I knitted some swatches, did some maths, and started with bigger size (I think 2XL) than mine to match the measurement, but then moved to XL after part one as it was just to big. Eventually, I ended up cropping it as it was getting too big… I also modified the neckline, so that it stays looser and off the shoulder, which is a look I like.
By the end, I found myself with a very wide and loose jumper, and I was a bit upset at myself for spending so much time on it and ending up with a disaster, until I tried it on…
How I wear it
I now live in this thing. It’s so comfortable and warm. It’s definitely boxy, and misshapen, but I think that adds to the style. I wear it with yoga leggings, it’s great to put on quickly once it’s time for savasana, and with skinny jeans.
Will I do it again?
Definitely yeah, I enjoyed the pattern, as it has a few techniques I never tried before, like the yoke shaping in which back and front are started separately, and then joined in the round. The designer has also an excellent video tutorial that helped me a lot when I got stuck.
But next time I’ll use the suggested fiber content, or even maybe the suggested yarn, as I have been very interested in trying Knitting for Olive and Sandnes Garn, but first, I’m gonna trying to work through my current stash.
