Knitfluenced – KnitPro Needles. Ep. 4

Not even my Japanese planner helped me in keeping a regular schedule for my blogging: having being struck by a case of second sleeve syndrome, this belated post in the series is going to be a bit different.

I was planning to write about the Salty Days Sweater by Kutovakika, but alas it’s yet to be completed. So, I will be talking about gear today, however, it was definitely a Knitfluenced purchase: my set of KnitPro Symphonie interchangeable circular needle.

I have a decent collection of needles in a variety of sizes and material which I collected over the years of buying the right size for the project, while some others were gifts in knitting magazines. I always wanted to get myself a set, but I could never justify the expense as I know myself and I’m never consistent with my projects.

I keep my collection in a foldable case I made as a sewing project, where I keep all my bits and bobs related to knitting and crocheting. This is honestly one of my favourite sewing make as it’s been functional and reliable for years.

I switched to circular needles even when not knitting in the round: I find them much more comfortable and, when knitting big things, the fabric has more space, so I started having several needles in the same size but different cable lengths. Or worse… not having the right size with the right cable length for whatever was my new project….

Until I eyed the interchangeable circular needles in several of the podcasts I’ve been following, and after not much pondering I got myself a set of KnitPro.

There are several types and brands out there, I did some light research, but I concluded these were ideal for me. They are birch, and I prefer wood over other material; and they come is a convenient purple pouch – and purple is my second favourite color. It’s also easy enough to find other sizes for both needles and cables.

Later, I also got a set of short DPNs to finish the gloves as I really like the material of the needles.

They are incredibly convenient for things like putting stitches on hold as I can just leave them on one cable, and move the needles on the other cable. On the other hand, with the little extension, it’s super easy to move the stitches on old back to the main cable – trick I learned watching the tutorial video for the Kuutar top by Sari Nordlund. And obviously to size up and down needles: screw one out and screw the other in.

Definitely an approved Knitfluenced purchase!
