Me wanting to absolutely try merino yarn has been the result of binge watching knitting podcast, so I bought 3 skeins in This Is Knit, a lovely yarn shop in Dublin. But what to make with it?
I knitted plenty of fingerless gloves, sometimes even a full pair. But never a pair with fingers, so I thought it would have been a nice challenge.
And a challenge it was.

How I made it
I made actually 3 gloves. After I finished the first right, I decided I needed to do it again as the gauge was horrendously loose and uneven. So I got a set of Knit Pro Symfonie Short DPNs for socks and it made it much easier to handle the small circumference. I thought I took a picture of the two rights I made before I frogged the first attempt to reuse the yarn, but it seems I didn’t, so here’s a picture of the first attempt in progress with long non wood needles.
For the cuff, I made up a cable pattern from a book of various knitting and crochet stitches I owned for years. Then I followed the tutorial, however, I made a mistake in measuring my hand, so the thumb came out huge. I adjusted it for the left, but it needs better math making next time from my part. I think the problem is that my wrist is ridiculously small 😅
How I wear it
That’s easy! Especially since spring refuses to show up this year, I’ll get much more use than expected even if it took much longer to make.
Will I do it again?
Absolutely! It was a steep learning curve, but I enjoyed making them. And I like that the recipe is flexible and can be adapted to my liking.
