I’m back with a little update on my excruciatingly slow house glow-up: my bedroom.
It did take two months to finish something that could have been done in a weekend, but I think the new color really suits Lucy.
I didn’t really think to take a proper before picture, but I can tell you the room before looked grey and sad. Now it looks so much comfier and warm.
Here’s a before picture. Sorry for the mess!
Here’s a gallery of how it looks now, still messy.
It took me a while to figure out what colors I wanted, and people who know me well might be very surprised at the amount of pink in this room. Initially, I was obsessed with blush pink and sage, but I wanted to find a color scheme that was relaxing but also me.
This is the list of paints I used, I also mixed them to achieve different shades in the geometrical corner.
– Johnstone’s Matt Emulsion Mauve Whisper 2.5l: I can’t find it on their website anymore, not sure if it changed name or it’s discontinued.
– Woodie’s Sweet Juliet Tester pot
– Søstrene Green Decorative Wall Paint Rose
– Johnstone’s Interior Wood and Metal Satin Pink Cadillac 750ml: for window sill and skirting board
I also used a wood primer and undercoat on the window sill and skirting board. I used Johnstone’s this time, but I tried out also the Dulux one, and both gave a good result.
Since this is only part 1, it’s still not fully done yet. But on the other hand, I’ve been trying to embrace the philosophy that I’m not on a deadline because, first, it’s my house and I’m not moving out anytime soon; second, these projects are to make it more mine, but the house is fine in itself.
So chill, Tina!
What can we expect for part 2?
– A trip to Ikea to sort out the bedside situation: currently my floor is my bedside table.
– A trip to the fabric shop for curtains and a headboard.
