Fifty Shades of Rainbow

I love black in all shades!

I’ve been wearing black almost constantly since I was about 16 years old and almost constantly people have commented on how black my clothing is. And well… that didn’t really budge me to wear any other colour.

Once in a while maybe I’d dare a grey or black with some pattern, but that was about it.

I went through all the phases: Bohémienne poet in black turtle neck, goth Lolita, metalhead, aged metalhead in black patent leather legging, office smart total black, lockdown cosy black.

Sometimes, however, unexpected slivers of colours find their way in my one-day-I’ll-sew-it-into-clothing fabric stash…

Full of Guinness stew on Paddy’s day, I finally defeated my laziness and made a hoodie in absolutely not my style!

The pattern I used is the Navarro, crop version, from Stitch Upon a Time. Super easy and quick to sew. I finished it over two days due to my proverbial gold fish attention span, but it can be very well sewed up in a day.

Not bad not bad!

And I got loads of compliment from surprised people so used to see my Zoom visible upper body clothes in black, but I have to admit, I like it too!

I let my hair down too today and went for a walk on the windy seaside of North Dublin, proudly sporting my colourful striped hoodie (under the usual grey coat).

It’s odd sometimes like a small detail can make your mood change completely, and it sparked my sewing mojo again. I’ve been feeling like sewing something else, but I’m still looking in my stash to see what it could be. I want some quick but also a bit challenging, so it’s not going to be another set of period pads. But what will it be?

Decisions decisions…
