The Leggings Project – Part 2b: Finishing Up

TinaStrange Avatar

This project has been the Oliver Twist of craft blogging: four posts for one project and, supposedly, a quick one. But, alas, life can be busy and an Assignment from Hell kept me quite… ahem… entertained, so I haven’t been able to sit down and write about the final leg (…) of my exciting journey in leggings making.

I can start by saying that they were a success -a little wanky of a success-, but a success nonetheless, one where my arse hasn’t been unintentionally flashed because the seams ripped. Yay!

Sewing the band was a little more challenging than I expected because of my inability to cut and sew straight. I’m not going into details as it was mostly a trial and error approach and I mostly forgot too. Instead, here’s a picture of the finished product:

Definitely, the vigilant eye will notice a few mishaps, as for example, the legs have different lengths (solution: wear them with boots). And also, the band in the front sit a bit higher on the navel than I wanted. But, they are quite comfy overall.

Definitely, I bagged a few lessons for the next pair I’ll make:

  1. Cut straight
  2. Sew straight

Easy, right??

Anyway, what’s next? More Assignments from Hell and exams coming soon might put my crafty brain on the bench for a while, but I’ve a few ideas already, including bra making, that I’d like to take on before attempting another pair of leggings.
