Winter is fast approaching. Kinda.
We had a surprisingly hot summer in Ireland, it is a surprise we get a summer at all here, imagine getting a hot one.
Thanks global warming… I guess…
But winter means knitted sweaters and scarves. And there’s something I can’t resist when I see them on the shelf: balls (of yarns). Since Hickeys in Henry Street has closed down, my new favourite place to hoard yarn from is Aldi. They are very affordable and decent quality: I have a few socks, a hat and a shawl done, and a scarf in progress.
All small bits..
I knitted sweaters in the past, for babies. But a full size sweater for a full size human? No, never. Because I know I’m not very consistent. But I was inspired by a friend’s gorgeous sweater they made, so I wanted to commit to something bigger.
So when I saw Aldi had yarn again, including some Aran wool, I launched myself and got two huge balls – cat for size.
I’ve been scrolling through Raverly obsessively to find a pattern, and identified a few options. But surprisingly enough I haven’t thrown myself at it yet, I still need to try out knitting the gauge to choose which pattern to go for.
But as most crafters, starting and finishing projects are different matters, so let’s list what else I have boiling in the crafting cauldron, in bracket the start date:
- Moss stitch scarf (March 2022)
- Cross stitch bathroom set: 1 out of 3 done (March 2022)
- Black work SAL (January 2022)
- Cat in space cross stitch (September 2020)
- Temperature blanket (March 2020)
- Upcycled dress (August 2022)
- Upcycled Billy bookshelf (September 2022)
Some oldies in there… I’m planning to at least finish a couple before end of 2022. Let’s see how this Old Year’s Resolution is going to play out.
