Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 3 – Patterns and Repetitions

On the third day of Christmas my true love sent me down a rabbit hole about the eponymous Christmas Carol, and I learned a couple of interesting things about it, one of them being that this year the true love would spend $41k to feed their beloved. Ouch, that’s one expensive romantic dinner, but don’t worry, it’s not going to be too unhealthy with all the milking, dancing, and drumming*.

This song is a cumulative song, with each verse increasing the number of gifts the true love is sending, and it reminded me of my knitted WIP shawl since each row increases in a triangular shape.

I love starting a new knitting project (and I seem to love a bit less finishing them), as it’s very satisfying seeing the rows adding up one after each other to form something new. I’ve been knitting since I was a child, and it’s one of my favourite crafts, even though I always tend to do smaller projects (aka new pregnant friends get a knitted piece of clothing for their future baby). When no babies are not on the way, then socks has been my new go to.

Until one day I saw the Harmony Shawl by Melanie Mielinger, and I decided to challenge myself with something bigger, but not as big as a sweater for myself. It’s taking some time: started on the 31st October, it’s about 70% done.

I’m not uploading a WIP photo, because I’m terrible at taking pictures, but it’s looking good, believe!

And on the fourth day of Christmas
Let’s hope my true love gives me
some inspiration
