So, here we are… still in lockdown.
Oddly enough I didn’t write off my blogging career yet. I’ve been writing several posts in my head, but with very little strength left in me, none has materialised yet.
The first quarter of 2021 is almost over and, boy, it’s already looking like we are gonna miss 2020.
The end of 2020 actually wasn’t too bad driven by hope of a new year and by some slivers of normality. But it was short live as just before Christmas, while sipping a pint of Guinness and eating coddle in a cozy Dublin pub, the government appeared on TV to send us all back in time out.
It wasn’t too bad because after almost a year of waiting I finally got the keys of “my” flat. Best part of my new home is the woman-cave, craft-room, temporary office.
Unfortunately, all my newly found crafting space hasn’t resulted in a lot of finished projects, but I did *some* crafting and found (again) an old hobby: puzzles. And as a metaphor for my life one was missing a piece…
It’s nice to finally have a space where I can do all my crafting without having to move stuff around to make space for mundane things like dinner. Even if the space is still not organised, as my plans for furbishing and decorating my nest have been curbed by the pandemic (yeah, I know I can order but I like old style, going to shops, touching things, etc. etc.), it was quite satisfying to spend an afternoon sewing new period pads and with natural light!
And no, my desk is not made of cardboard but it just hide my 1999-piece puzzle until I find an appropriate frame.
So, yeah, it’s been a year of Covid: not much has changed, but a lot has changed…
I doubt I will make many crafting plans this year: albeit having a lot of free time, I’m also always very tired. And I seem to find solace in repetitive activities like puzzling and cross-stitching but I don’t have enough energy to thing about 1000 projects to start and never finish.
But this is what it is and I’m not holding this against myself. It’s been a tough year and one thing I learned is to cut myself some slack.
So I leave it at that with a picture of an everlasting WIP and until next time with a post about a project I haven’t finished yet!
