Just a very quick post about my new sewing project, which was delayed by a massive hungover and my inability to leave my couch yesterday.
I will try to make my own leggings!
I love leggings. They are so comfy and I don’t care what people say about not being real pants. I’m too old to care and, I roller skated for a few years, so I have muscular thunder tights that looks nice in leggings.
And I can eat all I want in it without feeling like my pants are about to explode.
And I can just put an shirt, a tunic or a long top and I look trendy in 5 seconds.
Anyway, I love leggings if it wasn’t clear. But I break them too easily. I buy Penneys Finest so probably not the best quality, but they all end up ripping between the legs.
So I decided to took up the challenge and make my own. I’ve got two types of fabric:
- Ribbed jersey (left)
- Scuba fabric (right)
I’ll start with the ribbed one as I’d like to have some side inserts with the scuba ones to look more rockish. However, I don’t have a pattern as I’m after a very specific shape. I’m short and chunky, which means that leggings are always very high waisted for me, so I’ll be draft the pattern myself based on a pair of leggings I like and tweak it as I go along to achieve The Perfect Leggings.
My idea is to document step by step this new project in a series of posts trying to come up with a little tutorial, which is a bit different than my usual posts as I generally follow tutorials from others or I just ramble about stuff. So, if you are curious to see how this is going, keep you eyes peeled on my blog! However, due to the aforementioned accidental drunkness, the project start is delayed and I’m expecting to publish the first post next weekend.
