I went ice skating on Friday and this happened…
And I got to spend the weekend on the couch, reading and writing? Sounds awful, right?!? I survived, even though sitting on the couch was like parallel parking a truck every time, and putting pants and socks on was a whole yoga routine. My knee isn’t too bad: yesterday it was the size of a blood orange, today of an apple, hopefully, in the next days we will go into smaller fruits territory: plum, cherry and maybe finally knee-sized again. But my ego got the worse. It’s not like I could have prevented like for example wearing my super safe roller derby knee pads, because it’s not like after 4 years of roller derby my body reacts as if it is always on roller skater and no one told me “wear your pads”. Nope nope. Nothing of the above ever happened. I spent my Saturday feeling stupid and limping around the house. But guess what, lesson learnt! Next time I’m going ice skating I’ll wear my full protective gear and bubble wrap myself. Because yes, I’m totally going again!
The worse of it all was missing my class of aerial silks, but I figured doing this while being unable to bend your knee would have been hard.
Anyway, I tried to make the most of my forced rest and worked a bit on my novel, even created a Twitter account, and wrote this little post in the hope it will inspire someone to wear knee pads to go ice skating!
I have no crafting projects for the rest of 2017, unless some last minute upcycled gift is needed, so I can focus on writing, studying, reading and drawing, and hopefully I will finally have time to write about some of the projects I completed this year. It was a very nerdy 2017 with projects inspired by Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Wonder Woman.
Stay tuned!
